Livestock Breeding Promotion

Funding is aimed at breeding associations that carry out animal breeding projects in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The final beneficiaries of this funding are animal keepers classified as micro, small, or medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) according to the EU definition. The program aims to support animal breeding and the quality of animal populations in the region.

The program supports specific measures in animal breeding, particularly herd book keeping and performance testing. Both associated costs and certain project-related activities aimed at improving animal populations are funded.

Funding is granted as a non-repayable grant, with the funding amount varying depending on the type of project and the beneficiaries. It is a project-based funding in the form of a fixed amount financing.

Applicants and final beneficiaries must meet specific legal and substantive requirements. Specific regulations apply regarding application submission, cooperation between breeding associations and animal keepers, and state aid provisions.

Applications for livestock breeding funding must be submitted annually by the end of November for the following year. The State Office for Agriculture, Food Safety and Fisheries is responsible for approval and processing.
