Energy Consulting for Residential Buildings

This funding is aimed at owners, homeowners' associations (WEG), usufructuaries, tenants, and lessees of residential buildings in Germany. The goal is to support them in their decision to undertake energy-efficient renovations and heating system replacements, thereby increasing energy efficiency and achieving the federal government's climate protection goals.

Comprehensive energy consulting for residential buildings, including the creation of an individual renovation roadmap (iSFP), is funded. The iSFP shows how a residential building can achieve a federally funded efficiency house level gradually or through a comprehensive renovation. The consulting must be carried out by certified energy consultants.

The funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant, amounting to 50 percent of the eligible consulting fee. There are fixed maximum amounts depending on the building type and additional funding for explanations at homeowners' association meetings. The approved consulting must be completed within nine months.

Specific conditions apply to the funding regarding the building, the energy consultant, and compliance with De minimis regulations. It is important to note the start date of the project and not to claim double funding for the same measures.

The application for energy consulting must be submitted online via the portal of the Federal Office for Economic Affairs and Export Control (BAFA). The grant will be disbursed after a positive review of the proofs of use, which must be submitted within six months after the end of the approval period.

The legal basis for funding energy consulting for residential buildings is the specific guideline of the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action, which integrates various federal and EU legal provisions to support the climate protection goals of the federal government.
