Validation of Research Results and Inventions (Validation Funding) and Support for an Easier Transition into a Founder Existence (FLÜGGE)

This funding program targets Bavarian state universities and their members who validate innovative research results or plan technology-based start-ups. It aims to strengthen Bavaria's competitiveness and accelerate the introduction of modern technologies.

The program supports the validation of research results and inventions, as well as the development of innovative, market-ready products and business models from universities up to the point of readiness for founding.

Support is provided as a grant or scholarship with specific maximum limits and durations for the two program components, FLÜGGE and the Validation Program.

Funding conditions include the innovation level of the project, unique selling points, and prospects of success. For FLÜGGE, the connection to the university, the appointment of a mentor, and the clarification of usage/intellectual property rights are also crucial. The Validation Program requires classification as a non-economic activity and clarified intellectual property rights.

Applications must be submitted in a prescribed form via the technology transfer offices of the universities to the project executing agency Bayern Innovativ within the framework of special funding calls. Evaluation is carried out by expert committees.

The funding is based on a notice from the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy, which defines the legal framework and objectives of the Validation Program and FLÜGGE.
