Structural Further Development of Bavarian Wine Regions and Infrastructure for Wine Marketing (BaySTW)
The Free State of Bavaria supports projects for the structural further development of Bavarian wine regions with this program, strengthening wine tourism and wine marketing concepts. Applicants can receive a grant for investments and other projects under certain conditions. The program aims to increase regional value creation and sharpen the tourist profile of wine regions.
Who is Funded
The funding program is aimed at legal entities under public and private law, as well as natural persons and partnerships, who implement projects for the structural further development of wine tourism and wine marketing in the Bavarian wine regions. The goal is to sharpen the wine tourism profile and strengthen regional value creation in viticulture, gastronomy, direct marketing, and tourism.
What is Funded
The program supports a wide range of projects that promote and further develop wine tourism and wine marketing concepts. These include tourist infrastructure measures, marketing and regional marketing concepts, and project-related quality controls. The funding covers eligible expenses for conception, implementation, and initial public relations, while certain operating expenses and acquisition costs are excluded.
Type and Scope of Funding
Funding is provided as a grant (project funding) through co-financing. The amount of the grant varies between 25 and 90 percent of eligible expenses depending on the project, but is limited to a maximum of 100,000 Euro. This maximum limit can be exhausted within three tax years with up to three applications. The minimum investment volume per project is 10,000 Euro.
Conditions and Requirements
To receive funding, applicants must meet various conditions, including the implementation of measures in Bavarian wine regions, adherence to income limits for natural persons and partnerships, and ensuring the suitability of tourism measures to sharpen the regional profile. In addition, special regulations for consortia, de minimis aid, and budget restrictions must be observed.
Application Procedure
The application procedure requires the submission of funding applications to the Bavarian State Institute for Viticulture and Horticulture using the currently valid forms. The application must be submitted before the start of the measure to be funded. The disbursement of funds takes place after the submission and review of the proofs of use, with partial proofs of use also being permissible.
Legal Basis
The funding program is legally anchored by the Guideline for the Promotion of the Structural Further Development of Bavarian Wine Regions and the Infrastructure for Wine Marketing (BaySTW) of June 23, 2023. It is based on the Bavarian Agricultural Economy Act, the Bavarian Budget Code, and EU Regulation No. 1407/2013. The funding is a voluntary service of the Free State of Bavaria.
