Participation of Persons with Disabilities and their Associations in Shaping Public Affairs

This funding program is aimed at legal entities under private and public law that are organizations of or for persons with disabilities or their relatives. The funding aims to improve their abilities to participate in shaping public affairs at the federal level and to facilitate the participation of persons with disabilities in political decision-making processes.

The program supports a wide range of measures aimed at improving the skills and opportunities of organizations of persons with disabilities to participate in shaping public affairs at the federal level. This includes competence building, fostering young talent, organizational development, the provision of disability-specific aids and assistance services, as well as other supportive measures.

The grants are provided in the form of a non-repayable subsidy, covering a large part of the eligible expenses. The funding period is limited to a maximum of three years, and applicants must provide their own contribution.

For a successful application, certain requirements must be met, including the project start after application and ensuring the overall financing. The funding program also sets specific guidelines for the use of funds and cooperation with an advisory board.

The application for funding is to be submitted in writing via the online portal to the commissioned project management agency. It must include a detailed project plan, a financial plan, and proof of applicant eligibility. Applications are reviewed and evaluated by an advisory board before the BMAS makes the final decision.

The funding program is legitimized by a specific guideline of the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs and is based on international conventions and national laws. It is a discretionary program that does not establish a legal claim to funding.
