Awareness for Early Business Succession Planning among Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises (SMEs) (Business Succession Guideline)

Support is aimed at chambers and professional associations in the state of Brandenburg that are dedicated to raising awareness among owners of small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and potential successors. The goal is to support the early preparation of business successions and to strengthen the region economically.

Measures to raise awareness for early business succession arrangements in small and medium-sized enterprises as well as for interested successors are supported. This includes various activities from direct outreach and information events to in-depth succession checks and initiation of contacts.

Funding is provided as project funding in the form of a grant, which is awarded as a fixed amount for eligible personnel and material expenses. It is a non-repayable grant to support awareness-raising measures.

Comprehensive conditions must be met for application and project implementation, including the submission of an overall concept and compliance with European and national regulations, particularly regarding transparency and communication.

The application for funding must be submitted online via the internet portal of Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB) and must include a comprehensive overall concept. Approval is granted by the ILB based on the application and its attachments.

Brandenburg's Business Succession Guideline is based on the directive of the Ministry for Economic Affairs, Labour and Energy of April 12, 2022, and is closely linked to EU regulations for the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF).
