Grant
Last updated: 14.6.2025

The State of Brandenburg supports vocational training for employees and other target groups through the Further Education Directive (WBRL 2022). Funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), grants are provided for individual education vouchers, in-company training measures, service packages for business settlements, and the development of academic further education programs at universities. The program aims to promote skill development and strengthen employability in the State of Brandenburg.

Who is Funded

The State of Brandenburg supports vocational training for various target groups with funds from the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+). These include employees, companies, legally capable associations, and state universities in Brandenburg, to support their individual and operational skill development and increase employability.

What is Funded

The program supports a wide range of vocational training measures tailored to individual or operational needs. This ranges from education vouchers for individuals to training in companies and associations, and the development of new academic further education programs at universities. Generally excluded are legally mandated training courses and purely private or recreational measures.

Type and Extent of Funding

Funding is primarily provided as a grant with varying funding rates depending on the type of measure and applicant. Financial support ranges from individual education vouchers to extensive projects for companies and universities, with maximum funding amounts from €150,000 to €3 million per project.

Conditions and Requirements

Specific conditions and requirements apply to applicants and beneficiaries. These include compliance with state aid regulations, such as the General Block Exemption Regulation, as well as comprehensive transparency and communication obligations regarding EU funding. Furthermore, cross-cutting principles such as gender equality and non-discrimination must be observed.

Application Procedure

The application process primarily takes place online via the customer portal of the Investitionsbank des Landes Brandenburg (ILB). The granting authority decides on the grant at its own discretion. It is important to submit the application in good time before the start of the measure and to provide the necessary proofs for the request for funds and the verification of expenditure.

The funding is based on the Joint Directive on Vocational Training in the State of Brandenburg (WBRL 2022) and is regulated by European and national laws, particularly by provisions of the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+) and the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER).
