Campus Network Policy

The funding targeted a wide range of companies, public institutions, and research institutes that wanted to implement projects in the field of campus networks and digital innovations in Lower Saxony. The goal was to accelerate digitization through process and organizational innovations, as well as research projects.

Investments in campus networks for the implementation of process and organizational innovations and research projects were funded. This included both the provision of radio technology and the procurement and upgrading of technical applications that use the campus network.

Support was provided as a non-repayable grant with variable funding rates and maximum amounts, depending on the type of project and company size. Projects had to meet a minimum expenditure and were funded for a period of up to five years.

Funding was tied to specific conditions, including the implementation of the project in Lower Saxony, securing overall financing, and compliance with aid regulations such as the GBER or De minimis Regulation. Consortia had to meet additional cooperation requirements.

The application procedure included submitting a project outline and subsequent assessment of eligibility by the NBank in cooperation with the Broadband Center Lower Saxony-Bremen. Approval was granted upon receipt of applications within the limits of available funds.

The funding was based on the 'Campus Network Policy' of the Lower Saxony Ministry for Economic Affairs, Transport, Building and Digitalization and was supplemented by the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER) or the De minimis Regulation to ensure compatibility with EU state aid law.
