Non-publicly Accessible Charging Infrastructure for E-Road Freight Transport in Bavaria

Last updated: 14.6.2025
Grant

The Free State of Bavaria supports companies in the freight transport sector in setting up non-publicly accessible charging infrastructure for electric vehicles. This program aims to promote the electrification of vehicle fleets and contribute to climate protection. It offers grants for the purchase and installation of charging points as well as the necessary grid connections.

Who is funded

This funding program targets companies in the freight transport sector with a registered office or branch in Bavaria. It supports the electrification of their vehicle fleets and the establishment of private charging infrastructure to contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions and climate protection. The program aims to create incentives for transport companies to invest in sustainable mobility solutions, thereby safeguarding jobs in Bavaria.

What is funded

The program specifically promotes investments in charging infrastructure for e-freight transport. This includes both the acquisition and installation of charging points and the necessary grid connection. Ongoing costs or construction work on parking spaces are not funded. Additionally, innovative approaches to optimize the charging process and increase energy efficiency can be supported.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant and covers a fixed percentage of eligible expenses. The maximum funding amount per charging point, application, and company is capped. Additional funding is possible for innovative projects. The program is designed to offer flexible financial support based on the performance of the charging points and the size of the company.

Conditions and Requirements

Specific requirements apply for participation in the funding program regarding the project start, technical implementation, and compliance with EU state aid rules. Cumulation with other public funding is generally excluded.

Application Procedure

The application process is a single-stage process and takes place via an electronic form system of the project executing agency. Applications are evaluated and ranked after the end of the application window based on the predicted environmental relief per charging point. Early submission or project commencement before approval are not permitted.

The funding program is based on a specific guideline from the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development and Energy and is subject to both budgetary provisions of the Free State of Bavaria and European state aid rules, in particular the General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER).
