Measures and Projects according to § 96 of the Federal Expellees Act

The funding program of the state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is aimed at associations, organizations, and legal entities under private and public law with a registered office in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, which are dedicated to the preservation of the cultural heritage of expellees and refugees. It supports projects that have a spatial or thematic connection to Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and contribute to the preservation and further development of cultural heritage.

The program promotes diverse projects for the preservation of the cultural heritage of expellees and refugees, as well as scientific research in this area. This includes cultural events, acquisitions for archives and museums, and projects for the integration of late repatriates.

Funding is generally provided as a non-repayable grant within the framework of project funding, primarily as co-financing. The funding amount is up to 75 percent of the total eligible expenses, with a de minimis threshold of €2,000 for the measure and a minimum grant amount of €250.

Specific conditions must be met for the application and implementation of projects, including compliance with formal requirements, ensuring overall financing, and considering equality and inclusion. Not all projects are eligible for funding, especially those with a predominantly touristic, social, or political character.

The application procedure requires written and formal submission to the Ministry of Justice Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The decision on funding is made at the dutiful discretion within the limits of available budget funds.

The legal basis of the funding program is the Guideline on the Granting of Subsidies for Measures and Projects according to § 96 of the Federal Expellees Act, issued by the Ministry of Justice Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
