Funding for the Base System (Funding Guidelines for the Base System – FR S)

This funding program is aimed at operators of base facilities in the field of elite sports throughout Germany. The goal is to optimize the development of German elite athletes and ensure their successful representation in international competitions.

Various expenses that secure the operation and further development of the base system in elite sports are funded. These include personnel and material costs, support services, and specific investments that support the daily training and infrastructure of the athletes.

The program provides grants in the form of project funding, which is awarded as non-repayable partial financing. The exact funding amount depends on the measure, with a maximum amount set for mixed trainer financing. Funding amounts are typically determined in four-year cycles.

The funding is linked to specific prerequisites and conditions related to the structure and performance of the base facilities. General administrative provisions and a regular evaluation of the system are also an integral part of the program.

The application for funding must be submitted in good time before the start of the project to the Federal Office of Administration, which forwards the applications to the Federal Ministry of the Interior. The Federal Ministry makes the fundamental sports policy decision and transfers the further approval procedure to the Federal Office of Administration.

The funding program is based on specific guidelines of the Federal Ministry of the Interior, which in turn are based on comprehensive legal and administrative provisions. These documents form the legal framework for the granting of funds.
