Funding for Sustainable, Multimodal Mobility in Cities and their Commuter Areas under the ERDF/JTF Program 2021–2027 (ERDF-RL Mobility)

The funding program aims to support municipalities, public and private institutions, and businesses in Saxony-Anhalt that implement measures for developing sustainable, multimodal mobility in cities and their commuter areas. Funding is restricted to specific entities and excludes private individuals and companies in difficulty.

The program supports a wide range of measures in the field of sustainable mobility. These include investment projects to strengthen the public transport network, active mobility, and the management of mobility flows through multimodal hubs and digital solutions. Additionally, investments in emission-free urban logistics and the development of mobility plans and concepts are funded.

Financial support is provided as a non-repayable grant. The funding amount varies depending on the applicant and can be up to 90 percent of the eligible expenses. There are also minimum funding amounts per project.

Specific conditions must be observed for application and project implementation, including ensuring overall financing, compliance with technical standards, and adherence to state aid regulations. Projects must be based on existing mobility plans.

The application procedure requires submitting forms to the Saxony-Anhalt State Administrative Office by fixed deadlines or as part of funding calls. Project selection is competitive, based on specific selection criteria that vary depending on the type of measure.

The funding program is based on the 'ERDF-RL Mobility' guideline of Saxony-Anhalt, which in turn is based on various European Union regulations as well as national and regional laws and administrative provisions. It also integrates strategic plans such as the State Cycling Plan.
