Leveraging International Potential – Shaping Transitions from Study to Profession

This program supports Hessian universities in implementing innovative model projects. The main goal is the integration of students and university graduates with a migration background into the Hessian or German labor market to counteract the shortage of skilled labor. The measures aim to improve career orientation, preparation, and networking for this target group.

The program promotes innovative and exemplary measures that facilitate the transition of students with a migration background into the workforce. This includes new study-accompanying programs, practice-oriented pilot modules, and the expansion of career-related networks. Projects must go beyond existing university offerings and consider sustainability.

The program provides seed funding in the form of a grant for project funding. The funding amounts to up to 40% of the eligible total expenses, with obligatory co-financing. The funding period for model projects is generally 36 to 48 months.

Eligible projects must be innovative and go beyond existing university offerings. They require a needs analysis before the project begins and should ensure the long-term continued use of results without ESF funding. In addition, cross-cutting EU principles such as equality and sustainability must be observed.

Applications can be submitted at any time during the period 2022–2027, with an annual approval round taking place and the application deadline ending on September 30 of the preceding year before project start. Submission is electronic and in writing via the university management. Project selection is made by an approval committee based on transparent selection criteria.

The program is based on the funding principles of the Hessian Ministry of Higher Education, Research and the Arts from July 22, 2022, and is anchored within the ESF+ Framework Guideline for Hesse. It is a discretionary funding program without a legal right to the grant.
