Last updated: 14.6.2025
Grant

This program by the Free State of Saxony, co-financed by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF+), enables childcare facilities to hire additional specialists to support children with special learning and life difficulties. Additionally, competence and counseling centers that professionally assist these facilities are funded. The goal is to provide equal educational opportunities for these children and to strengthen their future educational paths.

Who is funded?

This funding program is aimed at operators of childcare facilities as well as legal entities under public and private law and legal partnerships that operate competence and counseling centers. The funding is geographically limited to the Free State of Saxony and aims to provide equal educational opportunities for children with special learning and life difficulties and to ensure their successful further educational development.

What is funded?

The program supports the deployment of additional specialists in childcare facilities as well as the establishment and operation of coordination and counseling centers. Activities focus on identifying needs, developing specific support offers, and building networks. Funding covers personnel expenses as well as material and administrative expenses.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant in the form of co-financing. Funding rates vary depending on the type of project, covering up to 95 percent of eligible expenses for specialists in childcare facilities and up to 100 percent for competence and counseling centers. The funding guideline is valid until the end of 2030, and approved projects can be extended within this period.

Conditions and Requirements

For eligibility, specific qualifications of additional specialists and the target group of the measures are crucial. The selection of childcare facilities and the number of funded specialists are based on specific criteria. The program supplements existing legal regulations and national funding opportunities.

Application Procedure

Applications must be submitted by specified deadlines via the SAB funding portal. Project selection is made after the publication of a funding announcement. The process includes advance payments for projects exceeding 10,000 Euros and requires the submission of proof of use, typically within two months after project end.

This funding program is based on the Guideline of the Saxon State Ministry for Education for the promotion of ESF Plus projects in the field of lifelong learning, supplemented by the EU framework guideline and the Saxon Budget Code.
