ESF Plus Guideline for Gender Equality in Employment 2021–2027 – E – Projects Counteracting Gender Stereotypes in Career and Study Choices

Last updated: 14.6.2025
Grant

The ESF Plus guideline in Saxony specifically promotes projects for equal participation in employment. The program supports initiatives that counteract gender stereotypes and expand individual career choice spectra. Key areas include strengthening female entrepreneurship, career advancement for women, labor market integration of female migrants, and career orientation for young people.

Who is Funded?

This funding guideline addresses non-school project sponsors and the Saxony Coordination Office for Equal Opportunities, who implement projects to overcome gender stereotypes in career and study choices. The measures must take place in Saxony and target young people from grade 7 up to three years after graduating from school.

What is Funded?

Additional and voluntary offers are funded that enable young people to gain broader career orientation by gaining experience in gender-atypical fields of activity. This also includes conceptual work and the development of tools. The program also addresses targeted support for female founders, the promotion of labor market participation, and women's access to career advancement.

Type and Extent of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant and covers a large part of the eligible expenses. The amount of the grant and the funding rate vary depending on the type of project, with up to €90,000 per year and up to 90% of costs being funded for Part E (career choice stereotypes). The maximum project duration is two years.

Conditions and Requirements

Various conditions must be observed for the application and implementation of projects, including the submission of a well-founded concept, compliance with state aid regulations, and specific proof obligations. Funding is subject to the availability of budgetary funds.

Application Procedure

The funding application must be submitted via the SAB funding portal before the start of the project. The Sächsische Aufbaubank – Förderbank – (SAB) is the granting authority. Deadlines for applications are published on its website. The selection of suitable applications takes place with the involvement of relevant expert bodies.

The funding is based on the ESF Plus Guideline for Gender Equality in Employment 2021–2027 of the Saxon State Ministry of Justice and for Democracy, Europe and Equality. In addition, the EU Framework Guideline of the Saxon State Ministry for Economy, Labor and Transport, as well as relevant EU state aid regulations, apply.
