Funding for Measures for Climate-Friendly and More Environmentally Friendly Vehicles as well as Sustainable Mobility Services in Public Local Transport (Flexible Operating Forms)

The funding program supports a wide range of stakeholders in Lower Saxony who are dedicated to the development and operation of flexible mobility services in public local transport (ÖPNV). The goal is to make public transport more attractive and to promote the use of environmentally friendly modes of transport, especially in areas with low demand.

The program funds a variety of projects in the field of flexible and sustainable mobility services, including the establishment and operation of demand-responsive transport services and preparatory measures. It supports both services complementing traditional public transport and innovative on-demand services outside traditional structures.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and is project-related. The amount of the grant depends on the regional category and is limited to a maximum of EUR 600,000 per project. The project duration is generally 36 months.

Specific prerequisites and quality criteria must be met for applying for and receiving funding, ranging from the overall project financing to the consideration of regional and state-wide mobility strategies. In addition, state aid regulations and data provision requirements must be observed.

The application must be submitted via the NBank customer portal before the start of the project. The granting authority decides on the funding applications after a comprehensive review of the grant requirements and quality criteria, involving other state companies.

Funding is based on specific guidelines of the State of Lower Saxony, which are underpinned by a series of EU regulations and national laws. These legal bases ensure the legitimacy and framework for program implementation.
