Funding for Crime Prevention Projects

The state of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern supports projects and initiatives that contribute to crime prevention. Eligible to apply are districts, independent cities, towns, municipalities, as well as independent organizations, institutions, and individuals with their registered office or area of activity in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. The program aims to strengthen public safety through preventive measures and to promote the work of municipal prevention councils.

This program supports prevention projects aimed at preventing crime. The funding includes projects derived from current crime situation reports, contributing to the development of prevention strategies, implementing recommendations for action, promoting networking, planned by Municipal Prevention Councils, or enabling success monitoring. The work of the Municipal Prevention Councils themselves is also financially supported.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant. The amount of the grant is generally up to 80 percent of the eligible total expenses, but at least 1,000 Euro. In justified exceptional cases, the funding rate can be increased to up to 90 percent. For Municipal Prevention Councils, a fixed amount is granted, which is newly determined annually.

Specific conditions apply to funding regarding the applicant's registered office and area of activity in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern. Municipal Prevention Councils must meet certain minimum standards, and projects in child and youth work or "Sports instead of Violence" require proof of qualification of the supervisors. Furthermore, requirements for the proper use of equipment and for making the funding visible must be observed.

The application process for funding crime prevention projects in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is clearly structured. It requires the submission of specific forms and attachments to the Ministry of Interior Mecklenburg-Vorpommern by fixed annual deadlines. Approval is granted after a discretionary decision, which considers the vote of the Advisory Board of the State Council for Crime Prevention.

Funding for crime prevention projects in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is based on a specific administrative regulation of the Ministry of Interior. This guideline sets out the legal framework and conditions for granting subsidies and is supplemented by the State Budget Code of Mecklenburg-Vorpommern.
