Who is Funded: Target Groups and Geographical Scope

This funding is aimed at legal entities in Bavaria that, as operators of state-recognized environmental education centers, provide educational work in the field of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and Environmental Education (EE). The goal is to establish a comprehensive network of environmental education centers and thus enable local ESD/EE for the Bavarian population.

What is Funded: Contents and Costs

High-quality educational offers in the field of ESD/EE, which are aligned with the guiding principle of Education for Sustainable Development, are funded. This includes personnel and material expenses in connection with educational work, while certain costs such as land acquisition or building maintenance are excluded.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant in the form of annual basic funding for educational work. The amount of the grant is up to 30,000 Euros per environmental education center per calendar year.

Conditions and Requirements

Eligibility to apply is tied to the state recognition of the environmental education center and its economic capacity. Only non-economic activities may be funded, and the educational offers must be oriented towards Education for Sustainable Development.

Application Procedure

The application procedure includes submitting the application form and the work program by October 1st for the following year to the competent district government. The approving authority reviews the prerequisites and handles the further funding procedure. After completion of the measures, the use of the grant must be proven within six months.

Legal Basis

Funding is based on the Guidelines for the State Recognition and Funding of Environmental Education Centers (FöR-UmwSt), announced by the Bavarian State Ministry of the Environment and Consumer Protection. These guidelines define the prerequisites and the framework for grants for educational work in Bavaria.
