Funding for Sports Academies and Other Central Facilities, Projects, and Measures in Sports (Funding Guidelines Academies/Measures – FR AM)

The BMI's funding program targets operators of sports academies, central facilities, projects, and measures in sports, as well as national sports federations that contribute to optimizing the high-performance sports system and ensuring Germany's international representation. The funding aims to support the development of high-performance athletes from junior to world-class levels.

The BMI's funding program supports central facilities, projects, and measures in high-performance sports that significantly contribute to the development of German elite athletes and international competitiveness. This includes education and training, sports science research, sports equipment development, and international sports policy cooperation.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant within the framework of project funding, primarily as partial or deficit financing. The amount of the grant is variable and depends on the type of measure and its importance for high-performance sports, with up to 60% of expenses being eligible for funding.

The granting of grants is tied to the fulfillment of the requirements of the framework guidelines of the high-performance sports program. This includes the regular evaluation of the funded institutions. General Ancillary Provisions for Grants for Project Funding (ANBest-P) must be observed.

The application procedure for BMI sports funding generally takes place via the Federal Office of Administration, which also handles approval, disbursement, and success monitoring. The sports policy decision and the assessment of federal interest lie with the BMI.

The funding program is legitimized by the "Guidelines of the Federal Ministry of the Interior on the Granting of Grants for the Promotion of Sports Academies and Other Central Facilities, Projects, and Measures in Sports (Funding Guidelines Academies/Measures – FR AM)" of October 10, 2005. It is also based on the high-performance sports program and the administrative regulations for the Federal Budget Code.
