Who is funded

This funding program targets aquaculture businesses, municipalities, municipal associations, and regional stakeholders in the Free State of Saxony who are committed to the maintenance and nature-friendly management of ponds. The goal is the preservation of endangered ponds, environmental protection, and the protection and improvement of biodiversity.

What is funded

Various measures for pond maintenance and nature-friendly pond management are funded, either through the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) or the Joint Task “Improvement of Agricultural Structure and Coastal Protection” (GAK).

Type and Extent of Funding

Support is provided in the form of grants. The exact funding amount depends on the type and scope of the respective measure, with the commitment period generally being five years.

Conditions and Requirements

To receive funding, applicants and projects must meet a series of general and specific conditions. These include requirements for area size, management documentation, and specific management practices that ensure the protection of ponds and their biotic communities.

Application Procedure

The application procedure is conducted via the web-based portal DIANAweb. There are specific deadlines for the application for participation as well as annual payment applications. The approval authority verifies compliance with the requirements and obligations through administrative and on-site controls.

Legal Basis

The funding program is legally anchored by the Funding Guideline for Pond Farming and Nature Conservation (FRL TWN/2023) of the Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture and is based on several European and national laws and regulations.
