Grant

The Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus is a funding program that offers financial support for professional further training to employed individuals in Schleswig-Holstein. Funded by the European Social Fund Plus (ESF Plus), it aims to secure skilled labor in key areas such as digitalization, renewable energies, healthcare, and skilled trades. The program stands out due to its direct grant for individual further training projects, requiring co-financing from the employer.

Who is Funded?

The Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus is aimed at employed individuals with a workplace in Schleswig-Holstein who wish to adapt and expand their professional knowledge and skills through further training. The funding aims to address the demand for labor and skilled workers in important sectors of the state.

What is Funded?

The Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus funds seminar costs for professional further training that serve to maintain and expand professional knowledge. Excluded, among other things, are pure language courses or measures to acquire a driver's license. The measures must comprise at least 16 hours and take place at a certified further training provider.

Type and Extent of Funding

The Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus is granted as a non-repayable grant. The funding amounts to up to 40 percent of the eligible expenses, with a maximum of 1,500 Euros per person per calendar year. The employer must contribute at least 60 percent of the seminar costs.

Conditions and Requirements

Specific conditions apply to funding through the Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus regarding the further training measure itself, the further training provider, and the application process. It is important to await the grant approval before starting the measure, as otherwise, no funding will be provided.

Application Procedure

The application for the Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus must be submitted online via the Service Portal of the State of Schleswig-Holstein, no later than four weeks before the start of the further training measure. The approving authority is Investitionsbank Schleswig-Holstein (IB.SH), which also processes the payment of the grant upon submission of the proof of use.

The basis for the Schleswig-Holstein Further Training Bonus is the Guideline "State Employment Program 2021 – 2027 – Labor Market Program of the State of Schleswig-Holstein – Funding Period 2021 – 2027 of the ESF Plus – Further Training Bonus Schleswig-Holstein – Supplementary Funding Criteria" of February 29, 2024. This is based on a framework guideline of the labor market program and supplements the funding criteria of the European Social Fund Plus.
