Grants for the Implementation of the State Program "2,000 x 1,000 Euros for Engagement"

This program of the state of North Rhine-Westphalia supports civic engagement and non-profit projects by natural and legal persons as well as initiatives. The funding aims to strengthen social cohesion and enable non-profit projects in NRW. The geographical focus is exclusively limited to the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, with annual thematic priorities being set.

The program supports specific projects and measures in the field of civic engagement that offer social added value. Eligible for funding are the direct expenses incurred within these projects, whereby voluntary work can also be recognized under certain conditions. The funded projects must be carried out within a specific period and align with the annual funding priority.

The program offers a non-repayable lump-sum grant of 1,000 Euros per project. The total expenses of the project must also be at least 1,000 Euros. A maximum of one project per grant recipient and funding year is considered.

Specific conditions apply to the funding regarding the application and implementation of the project. Projects may not commence before approval and must relate to the annual funding priority. In the presence of third-party funds, overfunding must be excluded. There is no legal entitlement to the funding; approval is at the discretion of the competent authority.

The application procedure is carried out via an online portal and must be completed by November 1st of the respective funding year. The approval decision rests with the local authorities in North Rhine-Westphalia and is made in the order of application receipt. The grant is paid out in a single amount after the grant decision becomes final.

The state program "2000 x 1000 Euro for Engagement" is based on specific guidelines from the Minister-President of North Rhine-Westphalia and is regulated by the State Budget Code. These documents form the legal basis for granting the subsidies.
