Homeland Check North Rhine-Westphalia

The North Rhine-Westphalia Homeland Check targets natural and legal persons in the non-municipal sector who wish to implement projects to strengthen local and regional communities in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia. The aim is to promote civic engagement in the field of local heritage and history.

The program supports projects in the area of local heritage and history in North Rhine-Westphalia. Various measures are funded, such as publications, events, exhibitions, and technical equipment for presenting local history. Costs for regular operation or personnel expenses are explicitly excluded.

The North Rhine-Westphalia Homeland Check is awarded as a dedicated grant within the framework of project funding. Each funded measure receives a fixed amount of 2,000 euros. Projects must be completed by December 31 of the respective fiscal year.

For funding through the Homeland Check NRW, certain conditions must be met, including the implementation of the project in North Rhine-Westphalia and the existence of eligible expenses of at least 2,000 euros. There must be no double funding by other public means, and the projects must inspire people for local characteristics without promoting exclusion.

The application for the North Rhine-Westphalia Homeland Check must be submitted online via the provided funding portal. Approval is granted by the locally responsible district government at its dutiful discretion. Disbursement is automatic after the grant notice becomes final, and the proof of use is also to be submitted online in a simplified form.

Funding is based on the Guideline on the Granting of Subsidies from the North Rhine-Westphalia Initiative "Heimat-Scheck", supplemented by regulations of the State Budget Code NRW and its administrative provisions.
