Funding Guideline Vocational Education – Career Advancement Bonus
The State of Hessen supports graduates of advanced vocational training programs according to the Vocational Training Act (BBiG) or the Crafts and Trades Act (HwO) with a career advancement bonus. This bonus, which can amount to up to 3,500 Euros depending on the exam date, recognizes successfully passed examinations at DQR (German Qualifications Framework) Level 6 or 7. The program aims to strengthen skilled and managerial staff in Hessen and highlight the equivalence of vocational and academic education.

Type and Extent of Funding
Funding is provided as a one-time, non-repayable grant. The amount of the bonus depends on the date of successfully passing the advanced training examination and is either 1,000 Euros or 3,500 Euros.
Conditions and Requirements
Key conditions for applying for the career advancement bonus concern the place of examination, the applicant's place of residence or employment, and the type of advanced training qualification. No state aid regulations within the meaning of EU law apply.
Application Procedure
The application for the career advancement bonus must be submitted in writing to the competent accompanying bodies (chambers) within three months from the date of the examination certificate. The accompanying bodies forward the applications to WIBank, which is responsible for approval and fund management, while the disbursement is again carried out by the accompanying bodies.
Legal Basis
The career advancement bonus is based on the Funding Guideline Vocational Education of the State of Hessen and is supported by specific laws such as the Vocational Training Act and the Crafts and Trades Act. Administration and review are carried out in accordance with the regulations of the Hessian Administrative Procedure Act and the Hessian State Budget Code.
