Funding for Computer and Video Games

This program funds the conception, production, and marketing of computer and video games, with a focus on Serious Games and similar applications. Measures that lead to the creation of marketable concepts or playable prototypes are supported. The funding covers personnel and material expenses as well as own contributions.
Type and Scope of Funding
The funding is provided as a non-repayable grant. The grant amounts to up to 60 percent of the eligible expenses but is limited to a maximum of 50,000 Euros. Funding is only possible if the eligible expenses amount to at least 20,000 Euros.
Conditions and Requirements
Funding is subject to several conditions, including compliance with the refinancing prohibition, adherence to the De minimis regulation, and ensuring overall financing. Applicants must also provide qualified evidence and adhere to the General Auxiliary Provisions for Grants.
Application Procedure
The application procedure is public and time-bound, with calls published on the WIBank website. Applications must be submitted before the start of the project and using the official form. An expert jury evaluates the applications and makes a funding recommendation; the final decision is made by WIBank.
Legal Basis
The funding guideline is based on the Hessian Small and Medium-Sized Enterprise Promotion Act and is regulated by the Guideline of the State of Hesse for the Promotion of Computer and Video Games of February 4, 2021. The aid classification is as De minimis aid according to EU Regulation.
