The "Homeownership in Rural Areas (RL WLR)" program of the Free State of Saxony supports private individuals in creating, extending, or renovating self-occupied residential property outside the largest cities. It offers loans to promote the acquisition and preservation of homes in rural Saxony, thereby sustainably improving living conditions.

Who is Funded: Target Groups and Geographical Scope

This funding guideline is aimed at private individuals in rural areas of Saxony who wish to create, extend, or renovate self-occupied residential property. The program aims to strengthen housing in these areas and promote owner-occupation.

What is Funded: Projects and Activities

The guideline supports a range of measures related to self-occupied residential property, from new construction to acquisition and conversion, as well as renovation and extension. This ensures broad support for various housing projects in rural areas.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided in the form of a public loan from Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB). The loan amount varies depending on the project and can be up to 80,000 Euros, with a maximum term of 25 years. Interest rates are fixed for the entire term and are determined by the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior.

Conditions and Requirements

To utilize the funding, various conditions must be met, including self-occupation of the residential property for the entire loan term, providing owner's equity, and compliance with legal regulations. Specific requirements also exist for combining with other funding programs and securing the loans.

Application Procedure

The application for funding must be submitted to Sächsische Aufbaubank (SAB). SAB is both the approving authority and the point of contact for application documents and the assessment of eligibility.

The funding is based on the Guideline of the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior for the Promotion of Homeownership in Rural Areas (RL Wohneigentum ländlicher Raum – RL WLR). This guideline, in conjunction with the Saxon Budget Code and the associated administrative regulations, forms the legal basis for the allocation of grants.
