Environmental sustainability and circularity criteria for industrial bio-based systems

This funding program supports research and innovation to enhance the environmental sustainability and circularity of industrial bio-based systems within the EU and Associated Countries. It aims to develop standardized assessment methods and foster innovation, contributing to a greener economy by replacing fossil-based systems and protecting environmental quality.

The program funds research and innovation actions focused on creating and improving methodologies for assessing the environmental sustainability and circularity of industrial bio-based systems. This includes both mature (high TRL) and emerging (low TRL) technologies, with a clear exclusion of food, feed, biofuels, bioenergy, and cultural/recreation sectors.

This program provides grants for Research and Innovation Actions, with individual projects having a maximum funding cap of 4,000,000 €.

Applicants and beneficiaries must adhere to a range of legal, administrative, and operational conditions stipulated in the Horizon Europe Work Programme General Annexes, covering admissibility, capacity, collaboration, and specific program requirements.

The application process for this call was a single-stage submission that has since closed. Applicants were informed of the evaluation results in July 2023.
