HWT Energy and Climate Protection

This funding program targets universities and research institutions in Schleswig-Holstein that wish to carry out projects in the field of energy and climate protection in cooperation with regional companies and other partners. The aim is to transfer scientific findings into practice and strengthen the regional economy.

The funding program supports applied research and development projects and knowledge transfer focused on the field of energy and climate protection in Schleswig-Holstein. Eligible costs include personnel and material expenses, as well as investments in project-specific equipment. Company funding, product development, and contract research are excluded.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant. Funding rates vary depending on the type of cooperation partner, with a maximum rate for young companies. The maximum total funding per project is limited, and the project duration is generally set at 24 months.

To receive funding, projects must be carried out in cooperation between universities and companies and demonstrate relevance for Schleswig-Holstein's economy. Specific conditions apply regarding project content and the financial participation of cooperation partners. Compliance with the General Ancillary Provisions for Project Grants is mandatory.

Applications for the HWT Energy and Climate Protection Program must be submitted in writing to EKSH by specific deadlines. Project selection is made by a jury that evaluates the technical-scientific quality, innovation level, and relevance for Schleswig-Holstein. The EKSH management makes the decision on approval based on the jury's recommendations.

The basis of the funding program "HWT Energy and Climate Protection" is the guideline of the same name by Gesellschaft für Energie und Klimaschutz Schleswig-Holstein GmbH (EKSH) from December 4, 2023. This guideline defines the program's objectives, applicants, funding conditions, and criteria.
