The "IBB Energy-Efficient Building Renovation" program by Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) supports the energy-efficient renovation of residential buildings in Berlin. It offers interest-reduced loans, which build upon and further discount loans from the KfW Banking Group, as well as repayment grants. The goal is to promote energy efficiency and climate protection within Berlin's housing stock.

Who is funded?

The "IBB Energy-Efficient Building Renovation" funding program targets a wide range of stakeholders in Berlin's housing sector who wish to carry out energy-efficient renovation measures on residential buildings. This includes municipal and private housing companies, housing cooperatives, landlords and investors, as well as first-time buyers of renovated residential properties for rent.

What is funded?

The program supports various energy-efficient renovation measures for residential buildings constructed at least five years prior to the application. This includes comprehensive renovations to a KfW Efficiency House standard, targeted individual measures for energy saving, the installation of modern heating and ventilation systems, digital systems for energy optimization, and the conversion of non-residential areas into living space.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided in the form of an interest-reduced loan, which builds upon existing KfW loans and is further discounted by IBB. Additionally, repayment grants may be awarded. The maximum loan amount varies per residential unit depending on the degree of renovation and type of measure, and flexible loan terms are available.

Conditions and Requirements

Specific requirements apply to the application and implementation of funding measures, including the date of the building application for the property and the provision of customary banking collateral. The current KfW fact sheets and technical minimum requirements must be observed, and combination with other public funding is permitted under certain conditions.

Application Procedure

The application for funding must be submitted to Investitionsbank Berlin (IBB) before the project begins. The decision on loan approval is made after a comprehensive assessment of the object and creditworthiness. IBB offers advice and support for the application process.

The "IBB Energy-Efficient Building Renovation" funding program is based on a specific guideline from Investitionsbank Berlin and operates in close connection with the funding products of the KfW Banking Group. These legal frameworks define the prerequisites, funding purposes, and conditions of the program.
