Innovation Program for Business Models and Pioneer Solutions (IGP) Open
The Innovation Program for Business Models and Pioneer Solutions (IGP) by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) promotes non-technical innovations in Germany. It supports companies, self-employed individuals, research institutions, and universities in developing novel problem solutions, from feasibility tests to market transfer.
Who is funded?
The Innovation Program for Business Models and Pioneer Solutions (IGP) targets a wide range of innovative actors in Germany. It primarily supports small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), non-profit SMEs, self-employed individuals, and new start-ups. Research institutions and universities can also receive support within the framework of cooperation projects.
What is funded?
The IGP funds projects that develop non-technical innovations such as novel service concepts, business models, or organizational changes. Two project forms are distinguished: feasibility projects for the early phase and market maturity projects for development up to market transfer.
Type and Scope of Funding
The IGP grants non-repayable subsidies as co-financing. The funding rates vary depending on the type of recipient and project form. The maximum funding amount depends on the project form and can be higher for cooperation projects.
Conditions and Requirements
For successful funding through the IGP, applicants and their projects must meet specific criteria, ranging from personnel qualifications to cooperation rules. Special attention must also be paid to legal requirements and the De-minimis Regulation.
Application Procedure
The application process is two-stage and competitive, starting with a participation competition and jury evaluation, followed by a full application assessment. Submission is done electronically via specific forms.
Legal Basis of the Program
The Innovation Program for Business Models and Pioneer Solutions (IGP) is based on a specific funding guideline from the BMWK and is legitimized by relevant budgetary and administrative laws as well as the European De-minimis Regulation.
