Training and Further Education in German Inland Navigation

The funding program targets inland navigation companies based in Germany and recognized inland navigation training associations. The aim is to counteract the shortage of skilled workers, increase safety, and strengthen the competitiveness of the sector.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant. The amount of the grant varies depending on the type of measure and company size, with specific maximum amounts for training and further education. The funding periods are linked to the duration of the training or further education measures.

Specific conditions apply to funding regarding the start of measures, the type of further education, and the applicants. Compliance with state aid regulations, especially the GBER, is also essential.

The application must be submitted in writing to the Directorate-General for Waterways and Shipping, with the measure only allowed to commence after approval. Applications are processed upon receipt of the complete and decision-ready application.

The funding is based on a specific guideline from the Federal Ministry for Digital and Transport. It is subject to the regulations of the Federal Budget Code and the EU General Block Exemption Regulation (GBER), which ensures compatibility with the internal market.
