Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant. The funding amount is generally up to 75% of the total eligible expenses for investment projects and usually also 75% for non-investment projects. Financially weaker municipalities can receive higher rates of up to 90%.

Conditions and Requirements

Specific conditions must be met for funding approval, including professional qualifications, creditworthiness, and proof of secured overall financing. Furthermore, the project may not have started before approval. Specific regulations apply to the cumulation of aid and disclosure obligations.

Application Procedure

The application procedure allows for the submission of funding applications electronically within the framework of project calls by specific deadlines or even outside of these calls. Projects are selected based on content and formal criteria such as knowledge gain, model character, and economic efficiency.

The funding program is based on the "Guideline for the Promotion of Innovative Projects for the Improvement of Cycling in Germany" of December 21, 2020, and is supplemented and regulated by the Federal Budget Code (BHO) as well as other European and national regulations.
