Integration Officers (VwV IB)

This funding program is aimed at municipalities in Baden-Württemberg and seeks to support the development and strengthening of sustainable integration structures at the local level. Specifically, districts, cities, municipalities, and administrative communities that wish to employ an integration officer to systematically plan and coordinate their integration work are eligible for funding.

The program supports the employment of integration officers in municipalities, whose main tasks involve the conception, management, and coordination of integration-related matters. Eligible for funding are the personnel costs for these positions, which aim to establish and further develop integration networks and plans, and to promote the intercultural opening of public administration.

Funding is provided as a grant, and the amount depends on the municipality's population and the scope of the integration officer position to be filled. The maximum annual funding is up to 20,000 EUR, and the funding periods correspond to the calendar year, with a three-year funding option available for smaller municipalities.

For the grant to be awarded, certain legal and substantive requirements must be met, particularly regarding the qualifications of the integration officers and the project start. Furthermore, regulations concerning public relations and data collection must be observed.

The application procedure is handled by the Regierungspräsidium Stuttgart. Applications must be submitted by the deadline of November 15th of the preceding year, and approval is granted at the discretion of the authority.

The funding program is based on the administrative regulation of the Ministry of Social Affairs concerning the granting of subsidies for the promotion of integration officers (VwV IB) and is supplemented by the State Budget Code and the Participation and Integration Act for Baden-Württemberg.
