Integration Subsidies

The integration subsidy is aimed at employers who hire certain employees in need of assistance. The program aims to integrate individuals with placement difficulties into the German labor market and to compensate for deficits, such as long training periods.

The integration subsidy supports employers in hiring specific groups of people by covering wage costs. It is a wage cost subsidy that does not cover project-related costs in the sense of research or development projects, but directly addresses the employment of employees in need of assistance.

Funding is provided in the form of a subsidy, the amount and duration of which depend on the target group of the hired person. The subsidy amount varies between 50 percent and 70 percent of the eligible remuneration, and the funding period can be up to 96 months.

Certain conditions and requirements must be met for the granting of the integration subsidy. These include the obligation to continue employment beyond the funding period and compliance with specific exclusion criteria. Decisions on applications are at the discretion of the responsible authorities.

The application for the integration subsidy must be submitted before the conclusion of the employment contract and the start of employment. The competent Employment Agency or Job Center reviews and decides on the application, as it is a discretionary benefit. Electronic application is recommended.
