Age-appropriate Renovation – Loan

The KfW funding program "Age-appropriate Renovation – Loan (159)" is aimed at investors who wish to convert existing residential buildings or condominiums to be age-appropriate or to improve burglar protection. It includes private individuals, companies, and public institutions throughout Germany who want to contribute to creating barrier-free and secure living space.

The funding includes targeted measures for barrier reduction and improvement of burglar protection in existing residential buildings. The first-time purchase of a suitably converted property can also be financed. Specific technical requirements are placed on the measures, and self-performed work is excluded.

The program offers low-interest loans of up to €50,000 per residential unit, which can cover up to 100% of the eligible costs. Various loan terms with grace periods are available to meet individual financing needs.

To utilize the loan, certain legal and technical requirements must be met, including implementation by specialized companies and adherence to environmental and social standards. Due diligence obligations regarding documentation must also be observed.

The application process for the KfW "Age-appropriate Renovation – Loan (159)" is carried out through a financing institution of your choice, such as local banks, savings banks, or insurance companies. The application must be submitted before the start of the project, with planning and consulting services being excluded from this.

The funding program "Age-appropriate Renovation – Loan" is based on a KfW guideline and is carried out on behalf of the Federal Ministry for Housing, Urban Development and Building. It is bound by the adherence to German environmental and social standards.
