Promotion of Environmentally Sound Agricultural Production Methods and Preservation of the Cultural Landscape (KULAP 2014)

The KULAP 2014 program is aimed at owners of agricultural holdings in Brandenburg and Berlin who wish to implement environmentally sound production methods and protect the cultural landscape. The goal is to promote sustainable agriculture and preserve genetic resources.

Various measures for sustainable agriculture are funded, including organic farming methods, climate-, water-, and soil-friendly practices on arable land and grassland, as well as the preservation of genetic diversity in plants and animals.

Funding is provided in the form of non-repayable grants, awarded as project funding with fixed-rate financing per hectare or livestock unit. The amount of the grant is measure-dependent, and the commitment period is at least five years.

Funding is tied to compliance with extensive agricultural, environmental, and administrative obligations, including minimum acreage sizes, livestock density limits, and detailed documentation requirements. In addition, the funding conditions must be adhered to over a commitment period of at least five years.

The application procedure includes the annual application submission by December 31st of the previous year for the commitment start on January 1st, followed by an annual payment application by May 15th of the following year. The approving authority's responsibility is determined by the business's registered office or the predominant proportion of land in Brandenburg/Berlin.

The funding is based on the KULAP 2014 Guideline of the Ministry for Agriculture, Environment and Climate Protection of the State of Brandenburg and is legitimized by EU regulations on the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development (EAFRD) as well as national framework plans of the Joint Task for the Improvement of Agricultural Structures and Coastal Protection (GAK).
