This program targets various sports organizations, municipalities, and private individuals in North Rhine-Westphalia who plan investments in sports facilities. The goal is to build and maintain a needs-based and modern sports infrastructure that promotes health and social engagement.

What is Funded: Measures and Eligible Costs

The program supports a variety of investment measures for sports facilities and their associated infrastructure. The focus is on modernization, maintenance, renovation, equipment, development, conversion, and replacement new construction. Special consideration is given to energy efficiency, digital modernization, accessibility, and measures for accident prevention.

Type and Scope of Funding

The program offers grants as project funding in the form of fixed-amount financing. The funding amount varies depending on the total funding volume and can, in exceptional cases, amount to up to 100 percent of the eligible expenses. A minimum funding amount of 10,000 EUR is set.

Conditions and Requirements

Applicants must submit a coordinated overall concept and demonstrate the necessity of the investment. There are specific award rules for higher grants and, in some cases, real securities. A simplified procedure is provided for smaller grants.

Application Procedure

The application procedure is two-stage. In the first stage, project outlines are submitted, followed by a detailed application to NRW.BANK in the second stage after selection of the funding measure.

Legal Basis

The program "Moderne Sportstätte 2022" is based on a specific funding guideline of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia, which is supplemented by further state law provisions.
