Assisted Reproduction Open
The State of North Rhine-Westphalia supports couples with an unfulfilled desire to have children through financial grants for assisted reproduction measures. The program helps cover the co-payment for IVF and ICSI treatments to facilitate access to these medically necessary procedures.
Who is Funded?
This program of the State of North Rhine-Westphalia supports couples with an unfulfilled desire to have children who have their main residence in NRW and have assisted reproduction treatments carried out in North Rhine-Westphalian facilities. It is aimed at married couples and heterosexual couples in non-marital partnerships to provide them with financial assistance in fulfilling their desire to have children.
What is Funded?
The program supports specific medical treatments for assisted reproduction, namely IVF and ICSI, over several treatment cycles. Only medically necessary expenses are subsidized to facilitate couples' access to these treatments.
Type and Extent of Funding
The funding is provided as a grant and is designed as project funding with co-financing. The amount of the grant varies depending on the couple's marital status and the treatment cycle, with maximum funding amounts set per IVF or ICSI treatment.
Conditions and Requirements
The funding is tied to specific prerequisites, including the main residence and treatment facility in North Rhine-Westphalia and the fulfillment of the requirements of § 27a SGB V. Applications must be submitted before the start of treatment, and the approval authority decides at its dutiful discretion within the framework of the available budget funds.
Application Procedure
The application for funding for assisted reproduction must be submitted to the District Government of Münster before the start of each treatment cycle. Required documents include treatment plans, medical declarations on the necessity of the measure, and, if applicable, cost coverage declarations from insurance companies or negative certificates.
Legal Basis
The funding program is based on the "Guideline on the Granting of Subsidies for the Promotion of Assisted Reproduction Measures by the State of North Rhine-Westphalia", which constitutes the primary legal basis. In addition, the administrative regulations for the State Budget Ordinance and a guideline from the Federal Ministry for Family Affairs, Senior Citizens, Women and Youth apply.
