Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a low-interest loan from NRW.BANK. Up to 60 percent of the eligible investment costs can be financed, with loans and grants together reaching a maximum of 100 percent. The term can be up to 50 years.

Conditions and Requirements

Certain legal and formal requirements must be met for funding. These include the granting of a state subsidy, adherence to NRW.BANK's sustainability guidelines, and the completion of the project after approval or authorization for an early start by the district government.

Application Procedure

The application for the Special Flood Protection Program must be submitted directly to NRW.BANK. After application, further documents may be requested, and the commitment is made on condition of a legally binding grant notice from the district government.

The NRW.BANK Special Flood Protection Program is based on NRW.BANK's information sheet for low-interest, long-term loans for investments in water management measures. It complements grants from the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and is subject to EU state aid provisions, where applicable, the De minimis Regulation.
