Who is Funded

This funding program targets a wide range of applicants in North Rhine-Westphalia who wish to invest in the preservation and renovation of historic buildings or structures with particularly valuable building fabric. The goal is to preserve and enhance the architectural heritage in the state.

What is Funded

The program focuses on investment measures on and within historic buildings or structures with particularly valuable building fabric. Both planning and implementation phases are eligible for funding, while acquisition and outdoor facilities are excluded.

Type and Extent of Funding

NRW.BANK offers low-interest loans for the promotion of historic buildings and structures with valuable building fabric. The loans can cover up to 100 percent of the eligible investment costs, with a minimum amount of EUR 25,000 and a maximum of EUR 2 million. Terms are flexible and extend up to 30 years.

Conditions and Requirements

Specific conditions apply to applicants regarding building status, use, and compliance with regulations, including NRW.BANK's ESG requirements. Commercial applicants must also observe De Minimis aid provisions.

Application Procedure

The loan application is submitted through the applicant's house bank and must be made before the start of the project. The house bank forwards the application to NRW.BANK, which approves the refinancing. The house bank is also responsible for monitoring the use of funds.

The program is based on the NRW.BANK.Baudenkmäler information sheet and is subject to various legal and regulatory frameworks, particularly the North Rhine-Westphalia Monument Protection Act and EU state aid provisions.
