The State of Hesse supports measures for the psychosocial care of refugees and their caregivers. The funding aims to strengthen the needs-based care for refugees throughout Hesse and to promote their integration.

What is Funded

The program funds measures for the counseling and care of psychologically distressed refugees and those working in refugee care. This includes the further development of psychosocial centers, supplementary care in initial reception facilities, and targeted regional individual measures tailored to specific needs.

Type and Extent of Funding

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant in the form of project funding with co-financing. The funding rates can be up to 90 percent of the eligible expenditures, with annual maximum amounts set for the different funding areas.

Specific conditions and requirements apply to the granting and processing of funding, which must be observed by applicants and recipients. These include, among others, application deadlines, the obligation to cooperate, and compliance with relevant budgetary and equal treatment regulations.

Application Procedure

The application for funding must be submitted in writing to the Gießen Regional Council, with specific deadlines applying depending on the type of measure. The approving authority examines applications at its dutiful discretion within the framework of available budget funds.

The funding program is based on a specific funding guideline of the State of Hesse and is subject to the provisions of the Hessian State Budget Code as well as other relevant laws and regulations governing the use of public funds.
