Housing Promotion – Rental Housing Promotion on the East Frisian Islands

The rental housing promotion program on the East Frisian Islands targets a wide range of applicants, including natural and legal persons as well as partnerships. The goal is to create new rental housing for low and middle-income households in selected areas of the East Frisian Islands in Lower Saxony.

The funding program focuses on the new construction of rental apartments in multi-family houses. It emphasizes the appropriateness of apartment size and promotes specific construction costs, while setting clear requirements for the use and target group of the subsidized apartments. The focus is on creating new infrastructure in the housing sector.

Funding is primarily granted in the form of a loan, supplemented by a grant for barrier-free usable apartments. The amount of funding can cover a large part of the total costs and includes a repayment discount for low-income households.

To be eligible for funding, applicants must meet various criteria relating to the appropriateness of the apartment, the minimum number of residential units per building, income limits of tenants, and the provision of own contributions. Consortia are also permitted, allowing for flexible project structures.
