SAB Saxony Credit for Energy and Storage
The SAB Saxony Credit for Energy and Storage supports investments in photovoltaic and geothermal systems, as well as energy storage in the Free State of Saxony. The program promotes increasing the share of renewable energies and improving energy efficiency. It offers both investment loans with a repayment subsidy for larger projects and direct grants for plug-in photovoltaic systems.
Who is funded
The program targets a wide range of applicants, from private individuals to businesses and municipalities, who plan investment projects to increase the share of renewable energies and improve energy efficiency in the Free State of Saxony. The goal is to promote the expansion of photovoltaic and geothermal systems and storage facilities, and to strengthen the acceptance of renewable energies.
What is funded
The program supports various investments in renewable energies and storage facilities that optimize energy consumption. Eligible for funding are photovoltaic and geothermal systems, as well as associated electricity, heating, and cooling storage. The funding covers all necessary costs for planning, installation, and commissioning, but excludes certain system types and locations.
Type and Scope of Funding
Funding is primarily provided as an investment loan with a repayment subsidy or as a direct grant, depending on the respective program part. The maximum loan amount is 5 million Euros, while grants are limited per application and year. The funding rate varies depending on the type of system.
Conditions and Requirements
To receive funding, various technical, legal, and administrative requirements must be met. This includes specific location requirements, adherence to technical standards, the necessity of financing through SAB, and compliance with cumulation rules and state aid regulations.
Application Procedure
The application procedure differs depending on the funding program. For larger projects (Program Part A), applications are submitted before the start of the project via house banks or SAB. For plug-in PV systems (Program Part B), applications are submitted electronically via the SAB funding portal after project completion. Approval is granted after complete submission of documents.
Legal Basis
The funding program is based on the Guideline Renewable Energies and Storage – FRL EEuS/2023 of the Saxon State Ministry for Energy, Climate Protection, Environment and Agriculture. It is underpinned by several state and federal laws, as well as EU regulations, particularly in the area of state aid.
