Sports Funding Guidelines Open
The Sports Funding Guidelines of the Free State of Saxony comprehensively support mass and competitive sports. They offer grants for operating costs, international championships, and the modernization of sports facilities. This program thus secures sports infrastructure and talent development in Saxony.
Who is funded?
These guidelines target a variety of actors in the Saxon sports sector, from sports clubs and associations to municipal bodies and Olympic training centers. The funding aims to strengthen and secure both mass sports and competitive sports, as well as the sports infrastructure in the Free State of Saxony.
What is funded?
The funding includes both consumptive and investment measures in mass and competitive sports. This covers operating costs of sports facilities, organization of sports events, youth development, as well as new construction, expansion, and renovation of sports venues and the procurement of sports equipment.
Type and Scope of Funding
The program awards non-repayable grants. The funding amount varies depending on the type of measure and ranges between 30 percent and 95 percent of the eligible expenditures, in some cases also as deficit financing. For investment measures, minimum own contributions and tie-up periods also apply.
Conditions and Requirements
Specific prerequisites apply for application and funding, including proof of non-profit status and compliance with budgetary regulations. Special conditions also concern the financing of investment projects, building codes, and securing claims for recovery.
Application Procedure
The application process varies depending on the type of sports funding (consumptive or investment) and the measure. There are specific deadlines and responsible bodies, such as the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior and Sächsische Aufbaubank – Förderbank – (SAB).
Legal Basis
Sports funding in Saxony is based on the Sports Funding Guidelines of the Saxon State Ministry of the Interior. These are supplemented by general budgetary regulations and administrative provisions that govern the awarding and processing of grants.
