Funding for Supra-regional Youth Welfare Organizations

The Schleswig-Holstein state funding program targets supra-regional youth welfare organizations primarily based in Schleswig-Holstein or implementing measures for young people from Schleswig-Holstein. The goal is to promote the development of individual and social competencies in children and young people, and to provide qualified counseling and assistance in the area of child and youth protection.

The funding program supports measures for cultural children's and youth education, as well as educational child and youth protection. Necessary and appropriate personnel and material expenses are recognized as eligible for funding, with an own contribution from the organization expected.

Funding is provided in the form of a non-repayable grant, typically covering up to 80 percent of eligible expenses. Projects are generally funded for one year, with a funding guideline valid until the end of 2026.

This funding program places specific demands on applicants and project implementation. These include compliance with legal requirements, ensuring the economic use of funds, and guaranteeing an appropriate own contribution. Funding is at the discretion of the granting authority and subject to available budget funds.

The application for funding must be submitted annually by December 31 for the following year to the responsible Ministry in Schleswig-Holstein. Approval is at discretion and subject to the regulations of the State Budget Code. Disbursement usually occurs in partial amounts spread throughout the year, provided that the previous year's proof of use has been submitted on time.

The funding is based on the guideline for the institutional funding of supra-regional youth welfare organizations of the Ministry of Social Affairs, Health, Youth, Family and Seniors Schleswig-Holstein. It is also regulated by relevant paragraphs of the Child and Youth Welfare Act (SGB VIII) and the Youth Promotion Act (JuFöG) as well as administrative regulations for the State Budget Code.
