Aquaculture and Fisheries (RL AuF/2023)
With the Aquaculture and Fisheries Funding Guideline (RL AuF/2023), the Free State of Saxony offers financial support for the Saxon fishing industry. Measures and investments that contribute to strengthening economic, social, and ecological sustainability, climate adaptation, innovation, and marketing are supported. The program is co-financed by funds from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and granted as a subsidy to help businesses adapt to climate change and increase competitiveness.
Who is Funded: Target Groups and Regional Focus of Support
This funding guideline targets a wide range of stakeholders within the Saxon fishing and aquaculture industry. Support is provided to businesses, organizations, research institutions, as well as public and private legal entities that wish to implement their projects in the Free State of Saxony. The program aims to strengthen the competitiveness and sustainability of the sector and adapt it to climate change.
What is Funded: Measures and Eligible Costs
The funding program covers a wide range of investments and measures aimed at aquaculture, the processing and marketing of fishery products, and the sustainable development of aquaculture communities. Both productive investments and research and development measures are supported, with a focus on sustainability and innovation. Certain expenses, such as operating costs or the acquisition of medicines, are excluded from funding.
Type and Extent of Funding: Financial Parameters and Grant Amounts
The funding program offers financial support in the form of grants. The amount of the grant varies depending on the measure and type of beneficiary, with a standard rate of 50% of eligible expenses. In exceptional cases, particularly for measures of collective interest or innovative aspects, funding rates of up to 100% can be achieved. The maximum funding amount per project is limited to EUR 500,000, with a minimum expenditure of EUR 2,000.
Conditions and Requirements: Regulations for Applicants and Projects
Specific conditions and requirements must be met by applicants and projects to receive funding. These include compliance with legal provisions, transparency requirements, and consideration of state aid rules such as the De minimis Regulation. Projects must be located in the Free State of Saxony and must not have started before the application. In addition, commitments regarding the durability of investments must be observed.
Application Process: Step-by-Step to Funding
Applications for funding are submitted via the funding portal of Sächsische Aufbaubank – Förderbank – (SAB). The SAB provides quarterly updates on the available budget and may announce cut-off dates for application submissions in case of funding scarcity.
