Berlin Programme for Sustainable Development (BENE 2) – Funding Priority 2: Environmental and Energy Management Systems

The BENE 2 funding program supports various institutions and companies in Berlin in their efforts towards sustainability and climate protection. The aim is to promote projects that contribute to climate neutrality and to improving environmental quality in Berlin.

Funding Priority 2 of the BENE 2 program focuses on the initial introduction of environmental and energy management systems. The funding covers not only the systems themselves, but also related services such as consulting, monitoring, training, and evaluations.

The BENE 2 program offers financial support in the form of grants, with the maximum funding in Funding Priority 2 limited to 100,000 Euros per project. Funding is provided through a combination of ERDF funds and state funds.

Specific conditions and requirements apply to applicants of the BENE 2 program, including the necessity of being unable to realize the project without funding or only to a limited extent, as well as various state aid and budgetary provisions. Special rules concern the awarding of contracts and the cumulation with other funding.

The application procedure for BENE 2 is organized digitally via the State of Berlin's application portal. It ideally begins with a project outline, followed by the actual application, which is possible year-round. Project selection generally follows the first-come, first-served principle.
