KLIMAfit Funding Program Baden-Württemberg

Last updated: 14.6.2025
Grant

The KLIMAfit funding program by the state of Baden-Württemberg supports companies and other organizations in starting operational climate protection management. The goal is to promote the creation of greenhouse gas balances and the implementation of emission reduction measures through the formation of "convoys" and accompanying consulting. The program significantly contributes to achieving climate protection goals in the region.

Who is Funded

The KLIMAfit funding program is aimed at project managers and organizations in Baden-Württemberg who wish to introduce operational climate protection management and reduce greenhouse gas emissions within the framework of KLIMAfit convoys. Companies of all sizes and sectors, as well as various public-law and non-profit institutions that actively wish to engage in climate protection, are supported.

What is Funded

The KLIMAfit program supports the entry into operational climate protection management through individual consulting and workshops. Activities for creating greenhouse gas balances and developing measures for emission reduction are funded. The support targets all phases of the climate protection initiative, from inventory to evaluation.

Type and Scope of Funding

Funding is provided as a grant for project managers of KLIMAfit convoys. The amount of funding varies depending on the type of costs, with specific lump sums set for workshops and commission reviews, as well as a percentage subsidy for project manager costs. The funding is available until December 31, 2025.

Conditions and Requirements

Participation in the KLIMAfit program requires specific conditions for convoy composition, activity implementation, and compliance with legal frameworks such as the De-minimis Regulation. Project managers bear organizational responsibility and must ensure quality standards for consulting companies and commission reviews. Additionally, evidence requirements and subsequent reporting on greenhouse gas balance must be fulfilled.

Application Process

The application process for the KLIMAfit program requires timely submission of specific documents to the Ministry for Environment, Climate and Energy Sector Baden-Württemberg before the start of the convoy. After a positive review, project managers receive a funding decision and can start the convoy. Funds are disbursed in stages, with the possibility of partial payments and a final payment after submission of the statement of use. Projects are evaluated by an independent commission and a follow-up greenhouse gas balance.

The KLIMAfit funding program is based on the KLIMAfit Funding Guideline (2022) and is regulated by budgetary provisions of the state of Baden-Württemberg as well as EU De-minimis criteria. These foundations ensure the proper allocation of grants and compliance with funding objectives.
