Sustainable Mobility in Saarland (NMOB) – Alternative Drives

The "Sustainable Mobility in Saarland (NMOB) – Alternative Drives" program targets legal and natural persons who are economically active and implement projects in public transport. The aim is to promote the use of alternative drives and thus contribute to climate protection in Saarland and throughout Germany.

The program promotes investments in infrastructure for alternative drives in public transport, the acquisition of land for this purpose, as well as specific training and digital solutions. Innovative model and pilot projects are also supported, although a number of cost categories are excluded from funding.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant within the framework of project funding with co-financing. The maximum funding amount per applicant is 1 million Euros, with specific funding rates and maximum amounts depending on the type of measure. A retention period for funded objects is also foreseen.

Specific conditions apply to the application and implementation of projects under this guideline, including compliance with procurement regulations and ensuring economically viable operation. State aid legal bases, particularly the GBER, must be observed, and there are precise rules for cumulating with other funding.

The application for the "NMOB – Alternative Drives" program must be submitted in writing or digitally to the responsible ministry before the start of the project. The decision on approval is made at the discretion of the authority, and the disbursement of funds is linked to the proof of expenditure.
