Transformation of Tourism Regions

The "Transformation of Tourism Regions" funding program specifically targets regional tourism organizations in Rhineland-Palatinate. The aim is to support these organizations in their transformation from marketing to management organizations and to strengthen their competitiveness and economic development by orienting them in a modern, sustainable, market-oriented, and innovative way.

The program supports a wide range of measures that contribute to the strategic, digital, sustainable, and/or innovative transformation of tourism regions in Rhineland-Palatinate. This includes activities in tourism marketing, digitalization and knowledge acquisition, sustainability campaigns, as well as innovative services and methods.

Funding is provided as a non-repayable grant and is limited to a maximum amount of 50,000 Euros per project. A high funding rate of up to 85 percent of the total eligible expenses is offered, with a co-payment from the applicant being required.

Specific conditions apply to the application for and implementation of the "Transformation of Tourism Regions" funding program. These include spatial implementation in Rhineland-Palatinate, alignment with the state's tourism strategy, and compliance with budgetary and state aid regulations. In addition, certain types of costs are excluded from funding.

The application procedure for the "Transformation of Tourism Regions" funding program takes place via annual funding calls published by the responsible ministry. Applications must be submitted before the start of the measure to be funded and must contain specific information on the measure and its contribution to regional tourism development.

The "Transformation of Tourism Regions" funding program is based on a specific administrative regulation of the Ministry of Economy, Transport, Agriculture, and Viticulture of the state of Rhineland-Palatinate. It is also subject to the state's budgetary provisions and, if relevant, the EU De Minimis Regulation.
